Brew-over
Lesson learned. Painfully learned. Unfettered though, another kit was ordered and a brew day was scheduled. Thank goodness for good beer and music
Another yeast starter was made.
This time, we decided to build a mash tun out of a water cooler for around $170.00, not including shipping, which was about the going rate for a pre-built one. The only modification was to drill a 1" diameter hole for the thermometer.

We also added a 1/2" S. S. valve with weldless bulkhead to the small pot as a hot liquor tun for about $15.00. That way we can heat it separately, then set it higher than the mash tun to let gravity do it's thing as we control the valve to the right sparging flow rate.
We also picked up a SS BrewTech Brew Bucket for around $200.00 to ferment the beer instead of a glass carboy we received in the kit. It made one heck of a difference come bottling day!
This one was OK, but still a bit thin and "homebrewy".
